The questions agents ask us before they contract, answered straight.
What commission levels do I start at?
You start at our published contract levels: carrier street level at minimum, and often higher. With high production you can move higher. See the levels and the full 2026 grid here .
Who pays me?
The insurance company, directly. You never assign your commissions to anyone but you.
Is there a fee to contract?
No. There is never a fee to contract.
Is there a minimum production requirement?
No. There’s no minimum production to keep the posted levels and no proof of production needed to get them. A contract MAY be dropped if you go a year or more with no production with that carrier.
How do I get contracted?
- Call (800) 673-5309, email info@fexcontracting.com, or fill out the contact form. You need to be licensed first.
- We send you one online contracting link plus a short form. A few carriers still need paper, and we fill that out for you.
- Carriers approve you. That takes anywhere from 2 days to 6 weeks, depending on the carrier.
- Once your first few contracts are active, you get the Agent Hub, the weekly Friday training call and the new-agent group chat. Brand-new agents also join the new-agent class, which runs the first 6 to 7 weeks of each quarter.
How long does contracting take?
Usually 2 days to 6 weeks, depending on the carrier.
Do I have to buy your leads?
No! We offer leads for agents as a convenience, and because after decades in the business we have a good handle on how to make great direct mail that also returns well. It’s high intent and low cost. But if you work with FEX Contracting you are a fully independent agent and can get leads from any source you like. Just be sure that they are legal and provide you with a high quality return on your investment.
Do you contract telesales agents?
Yes. You’re a fully independent agent, and we don’t tell you how you can or can’t sell. Our training and tools are built for in-person, face-to-face sales, because we’ve seen over and over that more agents succeed more quickly in person. But if you are an experienced telesales agent or agency we are happy to add you to our broker channel. We don’t have any training or tools for telesales, so if you sell by phone you’ll need to get those on your own.
Can I sell part time?
Yes, set your own hours. The average agent at FEX Contracting spends under 30 hours a week in the field once established. Agents who can give full-time effort at the start usually ramp up fastest.
Do you offer Medicare contracts?
Yes. We offer Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage contracts, and we have a whole division dedicated to teaching agents how to add Medicare to their business.
Is recruiting required?
No, never. We teach agents how to make a living selling final expense, not how to recruit. Plenty of our agents have gone on to build their own agencies, but we always recommend you learn to sell first. That’s exactly why we start everyone at full street-level commissions. You should make a good living as an insurance agent, not as a recruiter.
What if I want to leave?
We have always had an open release policy for anyone who doesn’t owe us debt. The minute you decide you don’t want to work with us, as long as you are free of debt, you are welcome to go. We will sign your release.
